CORTLAND MEMORIAL  DAY  OBSERVANCE

Cortland Veterans Memorial at Point Park

The Cortland Veterans Memorial Committee has announced that the Cortland community will observe Memorial Day with a special program at the Veterans Memorial, located in Point Park, on Sunday, May 24, starting at 2:00 PM.   The public is invited, and everyone is asked to bring a folding chair.
In line with the upcoming 250th Anniversary of the United States, the Cortland Community Band will perform several selections starting at about 1:30PM.
All veterans will be recognized, and special honors will be paid to all those who gave the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.    The featured speaker will be Lt. Col. James Johnson (U.S. Army retired). The presiding master of Cortland Masonic lodge #529, Alan Eggleston, a U.S. Army veteran, will be the emcee.
Members of the Memorial Committee will provide the sound system and assist directing parking.  The D.A.V. Chapter 11 will perform the rifle salute and taps.   Walnut Street in front of Cortland Mower will be closed starting at about 1:00 PM to set-up for the event.
In case of rain, the program will be moved to Cortland Christian Church, located at 153 Grove Drive.
